Back From Hiatus

Well it’s been a little while, but I am back again.  We moved out of our old apartment on the 30th of April and have mostly re-settled in at my mother-in-law’s.  It’s not the ideal situation, but since my wife and I are both currently unemployed at least we have a place to live, a bit of privacy, and we’ll be able to save some money up by not having to pay rent at the moment.  We’re helping out with my niece by driving her to school and picking her up afterwards, taking her to get her allergy shots, that sort of thing.  My niece starts her summer vacation next Wednesday, so we’ll see how it goes when we have her “full time” so to speak.

Amusingly we are now living in Colorado Springs, home to Focus On The Family.  I have the strangest urge to try to get a job there.   Somehow I don’t think I’d last too long, since they all probably have Jesus Fish on their cars, and I have Evolve and Flying Spaghetti Monster fish on my car.  I think they may notice things like that.  I suppose I could just tell them God told me to put those on my car and they’d accept that as a reasonable excuse.

Actually I did send a resume to an ad I found on Craigslist and it came back with a message saying that they reviewed my resume and would like to continue the interview process.  Great right? Except it came back with two attached documents.  The first?  A “Statement of Faith”.  The second, just an application… although at the bottom it has questions like, “Describe your personal relationship with Jesus Christ”.  I seriously considered replying that my personal relationship with Jesus Christ involved getting drunk and high on weekends with him, and playing Dungeons & Dragons… but opted not do so.
